Zig and Sharko (also in French as: La sirène, la hyène et le requin) is a French animated series with 26, twenty-one (21) minute episodes (also 78, seven-minute episodes in each 3 segments) that is created and directed by Olivier Jean-Marie and produced and executive produced by Xilam Animation, known for their animated series, A Kind of Magic, Ratz, Space Goofs and Oggy and the Cockroaches.

The series was broadcast from December 21, 2010 on Canal+, and is available in the United States of America on Netflix and was formerly on Rovio's ToonsTV.

On a deserted beach island lives a starving hyena, Zig with one former obsession, devour that delicious mermaid, Marina from the rock in the lagoon. Ah, but the lovely fish-girl’s best friend is, Sharko, a shark with a lot of muscle and who loves to sabotage the hyena’s every move.

In Season 2, the mermaid decides to set up her own house on the beach. And she invites all her deep-sea buddies to join her. But the stakes have been raised, now the hyena has to win back his own turf!

In the original French as well as in most foreign versions, none of the characters speak apart from unintelligible vocalizations, instead resorting to gestures and other forms of nonverbal communication, including the occasional use of pictograms in speech balloons. Sometimes, they use reused noises from Oggy and the Cockroaches. The exception is the Hindi version broadcast in India, in which dialogue is dubbed over the original animation.
